Collecting Fantasy

As well as Fantasy novels (which I won't detail here as I see them as a separate collection), I also collect a few other Fantasy related bits and pieces.

This is not a collection I avidly pursue, it is only items I have casually picked up around a subject I like.

Firstly though I should say that I consider Fantasy to be the more specific genre fantasy i.e. Dungeons and Dragons/Tolkien, and not the wider definition i.e. Alice in Wonderland.

Collecting Tolkien - Art

This is a very specialist area.

It is also very diverse, covering anything from original professional one off items to mass produced prints.  It can also include one off, non commercial, amateur items. In fact a lot of things could be treated as art e.g. framed trading cards, signed pictures etc.

At the high end, original art by professional artists is extremely expensive and rare. 

I am not including ornaments or statues here as these are covered in their own area.

I don't really collect Tolkien art and don't have much.

Collecting Tolkien Theme - Hildebrandt

The following is quite a small Tolkien theme area.

The brothers Hildebrant are artists produced various Tolkien art.

Collecting Tolkien - Audio

This is quite a diverse area which I don't really collect.

There are a lot of very obscure bands which have Tolkien themed albums or songs, most of these are either sixties psychodelia or heavy metal and a lot are from European countries (I don't have many of these).

There are also a lot of bands which are named after Tolkien (The Hobbits, Gandalf etc), but which don't have tolkien themed albums or songs, I don't collect them.

Vinyl records is also part of Audio but I do collect these so they have been listed as a separate area.
